London-based XRlabs has raised $8.4 million, approximately €7.48 million, in seed funding to develop AI technology that helps surgeons interpret information from multiple devices during an operation. The round was led by Playground Global, with participation from Eka Ventures. The company will use the investment to advance clinical deployments, expand its engineering and medical teams, and pursue regulatory approvals in the UK, Europe and the United States. <Cite refs={["turn403991search3","turn403991search5"]}/>
Founded in 2024 by neurosurgeon Dr. Ali Haddad, XRlabs is addressing a problem inside modern operating theatres: although surgical procedures generate enormous amounts of visual and clinical information, much of it remains scattered across separate screens and equipment. Surgeons must often switch their attention between surgical cameras, navigation systems and medical imaging while performing complex procedures.
XRlabs is building a software layer that connects these existing systems rather than requiring hospitals to replace their equipment. Its technology combines live surgical video with navigation data and pre-operative scans, giving surgical teams a more integrated view of the patient's anatomy and the procedure as it unfolds. Computer vision and deep learning help the platform interpret this information in real time. <Cite refs={["turn403991search0","turn403991search6"]}/>
The company's product portfolio covers both preparation and live surgery. XRlabs SIM transforms standard CT and MRI scans into interactive three-dimensional anatomical models, allowing clinicians to examine a patient's anatomy, plan procedures and rehearse complex operations. Its SurgicalOS platform brings relevant information from connected devices into a unified view during surgery, with the longer-term aim of creating an AI co-pilot for the operating room. <Cite refs={["turn403991search6"]}/>
The company has already moved beyond laboratory development. Its website reports more than 100 cases across three continents, while its technology has been evaluated in live operating rooms, including complex cranial neurosurgery. In December 2025, SurgicalOS was used in a live procedure in what XRlabs describes as the first in-human application of physical AI in complex cranial neurosurgery. The system has also contributed to work involving the separation of twins partially conjoined at the head. <Cite refs={["turn403991search0","turn403991search3"]}/>
XRlabs' wider ambition is to build a continuous source of surgical intelligence from procedures. By connecting video with anatomical registration and device telemetry, the platform can create richer records of what occurred during an operation. Over time, these records could support improvements in surgical visualisation, clinical training and AI systems designed to assist clinicians.
The new funding will help the company expand its clinical evidence base, develop its technology further and work through regulatory requirements across major markets. XRlabs is headquartered in London and also operates from Palo Alto, California, giving it access to healthcare institutions, medical technology partners and investors in both Europe and the United States. <Cite refs={["turn403991search3","turn403991search5"]}/>
As hospitals look for ways to make complex procedures safer and more efficient, XRlabs is betting that the next advance in surgical technology will come not simply from adding new equipment, but from making the devices already in operating rooms work together intelligently.
