Reykjavík-Based 50skills Raises €5.3 Million to Scale AI-Powered HR Workflow Automation - Prime World Media Funding News

Reykjavík-based 50skills has raised €5.3 million ($6 million) in a new funding round to expand its AI-powered platform for automating HR and people workflows. The round was co-led by Frumtak Ventures, Swiss Post Ventures, Avant, and US family office DRD Investments.

Founded in 2017, 50skills is building what it describes as an operating system for people workflows, bringing employees, HR teams, automated processes, and AI agents together in one platform. Its technology allows HR teams to describe the process they need in plain language and turn it into an operational workflow connected to the systems their organisation already uses.

The company was co-founded by Kristján Freyr Kristjánsson, who serves as CEO, and Andri Janusson, who serves as CTO. The platform combines deterministic workflows for predictable processes with AI agents for tasks that require interpretation, while keeping people involved in decisions that require human judgment.

50skills currently offers two core products. Hire provides an applicant tracking system, while Journeys enables HR teams to build and run automated people processes. The platform can handle workflows including onboarding, offboarding, employee requests, approvals, contracts, signatures, and compliance-related tasks. It also connects with more than 30 business applications, helping organisations automate processes without replacing their existing HR technology stack.

The company says its technology has been used to complete more than 4 million actions over the past 12 months by HR teams across the Nordics and the UK. Its customers include Icelandair, Eimskip, Blue Lagoon, Domino’s, and Securitas, as well as public-sector organisations such as Iceland’s Ministry for Foreign Affairs and the City of Reykjavík.

The new capital will support further investment in the platform and its AI agents, while also expanding sales, marketing, community, customer success, and solutions engineering. With growing adoption across the Nordic and UK markets, 50skills plans to bring its approach to AI-assisted HR automation to more organisations.
