Luxembourg-Based ANote Music Raises €2 Million to Make Music Royalties More Accessible - Prime World Media Funding News

Luxembourg-based ANote Music has raised €2 million in fresh funding to expand its marketplace for music royalties and make the asset class more accessible to investors across Europe. The round was led by Seventure Partners alongside ScaleFund, with participation from existing investors and shareholders.

Founded in 2018 by Marzio F. Schena, Matteo Cernuschi and Grégoire Mathonet, ANote Music launched its marketplace in 2020 to connect the music industry with capital markets. Schena is CEO, Cernuschi serves as COO, and Mathonet is CTO.

The platform allows music rights holders, including artists, publishers and record labels, to sell portions of future royalty income through an open marketplace. Investors can then purchase royalty interests and participate in the income generated by the underlying music catalogues. ANote Music aims to bring greater transparency to a market that has traditionally operated through private transactions.

Its marketplace covers catalogues featuring songs performed by major international artists including The Kinks, Beyoncé, The Who, Backstreet Boys, Justin Bieber, Britney Spears, Drake and Avicii. The company has built infrastructure covering both primary and secondary markets, alongside an automated royalties engine that manages royalty distributions to investors.

ANote Music says its platform now includes more than 100,000 songs across 36 listed catalogues, with 52,000 user accounts and cumulative transaction value exceeding €28 million. The company has also distributed more than €2.25 million in royalties across 389 payouts, according to its recent company update.

The new funding will be used across three main areas. ANote Music plans to expand the range of income-producing catalogues available on its marketplace by working with labels, publishers, artists and songwriters. It will also increase marketing and user acquisition across European markets, targeting music fans, individual investors and professional clients, while continuing research and development for its platform and mobile applications.

The latest round builds on ANote Music's earlier €505,000 funding announced in 2020. With its combination of primary auctions, secondary trading and automated royalty distribution, the company is continuing to develop infrastructure for a more accessible and transparent market for music royalty interests.
