London-based Metris Energy has raised €4.35 million ($5 million) in a Seed round to scale its AI-native platform for managing renewable energy assets. The round was led by PT1 Ventures, Octopus Ventures, AENU and Blackfinch Ventures, with participation from Plug and Play and Love Ventures. The latest financing brings Metris Energy’s total funding to €6.53 million following a €2.3 million pre-seed round in 2024.
Founded by Natasha Jones, CEO, and William Whatley, CTO, Metris began by helping renewable energy operators reconcile data scattered across inverters, meters, SCADA systems, CRMs, spreadsheets and financial tools. The company has since expanded its ambition to become a unified data layer for the wider energy sector.
Metris describes its platform as an intelligent system of record for energy assets. It brings together asset performance, operational, financial, contract and market data into a continuously updated view of renewable portfolios. On top of this data layer, the company provides automated workflows, natural-language querying, revenue management tools and AI agents designed to help operators make faster decisions.
The company is addressing a growing challenge for renewable energy operators as power markets become more decentralised and portfolios become increasingly complex. Data related to asset performance, flexibility, curtailment, community energy and corporate PPAs often remains spread across disconnected systems, making it difficult for operators to understand portfolio performance and act on new revenue opportunities.
Metris currently manages more than 10,000 solar plants representing 500MW of capacity for major power producers and reports 8x year-over-year revenue growth. Its customers include renewable energy companies such as Ampry, Zestec Renewable Energy, Rivington Energy, Coversol Solar Investments and Harvest Green Developments.
The new funding will be used to expand Metris’ agentic AI capabilities and extend the platform beyond solar into wind and combined heat and power (CHP) systems. The company also plans to accelerate its European expansion, particularly in Germany, where it has already onboarded several new customers.
With its focus shifting from simply consolidating energy data to enabling AI-driven operations, Metris aims to provide the infrastructure needed for renewable asset owners and operators to monitor, manage and monetise increasingly complex energy portfolios from a single system.
