Kuro Raises €10 Million to Build AI Foundation for General Contractors - Prime World Media Funding News

Berlin-based Kuro Technology has raised €10 million in a seed funding round led by UVC Partners, with participation from Foundamental, Realyze Ventures and helloworld. The new funding will support the company’s expansion of its AI platform for general contractors and its move into additional construction back-office workflows.

Founded in November 2024 by Lea Scherer and Jonas Minkler, Kuro is developing what it describes as an AI foundation for general contractors. The founders previously held leadership positions at construction technology companies alcemy and Capmo. The company currently has 16 employees in Berlin.

Kuro’s platform brings together the large volume of drawings, specifications, tenders, bids and other project documents generated during construction projects. It connects this information into a single data model and adds each contractor’s own rules covering building components, review criteria and work packages.

The system can identify contradictions between drawings and specifications, assess project risks, enrich components in 3D models, process public tenders and evaluate subcontractor bids. Corrections made by estimators can also be retained in the company’s rulebook, allowing knowledge from one project to be carried into the next instead of being lost.

Kuro says its customers save around 90 hours per bid, while 70% of users report that the platform has surfaced information they would otherwise have missed. Its customers include Goldbeck, Köster, Implenia, Geiger, Riedel and HOCHTIEF Infrastructure. Six of its 12 existing customers are among the 20 largest general contractors in the German-speaking region.

The company initially focused on construction estimating, where teams often need to work through tens of thousands of pages before pricing a project. Kuro now plans to extend its platform into procurement, accounting, compliance and other back-office functions, with the goal of creating a system that learns from every completed project.

With the new capital, Kuro plans to further develop its AI platform, expand its customer base and build the infrastructure needed to support more construction workflows across Europe.
