Strategic Vision and Market Disruption

Cognitive Credit, the London-based provider of corporate credit data, analytics and AI technology, has secured a €35.73 million ($40 million) strategic growth investment.

The investment round was led by global growth equity firm Summit Partners, with continued participation from existing investor ETFS Capital. The investment follows an €8.93 million ($10 million) Series B led by ETFS Capital in September 2024, and a €7.17 million (£6 million) Series A led by Fitch Ventures in November 2021

“High-quality data at speed and scale is critical to powering AI workflows that credit professionals will increasingly rely on for high-stakes decisions,” said Chris Bon, a Partner at Summit Partners who has joined the Cognitive Credit Board of Directors.

Founded in 2017 by Robert Slater, Cognitive Credit was built by ex-credit analysts who experienced first-hand the limitations of relying on tools designed for equity markets, at a time when no credible alternative existed for the credit space. The company set out to address what it saw as a long-overdue digital transformation in corporate credit markets, one of the world’s largest asset classes with nearly €12.5 trillion ($14 trillion) raised in 2025 alone, according to OECD’s Global Debt Report 2026.

Cognitive Credit’s integrated web application provides support across the credit research workflow, combining verified data, advanced analytics and domain-specialist generative AI capabilities. Its platform is powered by proprietary data developed through the analysis of hundreds of thousands of financial reports to give analysts on-demand access to audit-grade credit models and primary reporting libraries across 3,500+ corporate bond and loan issuers in the US, Europe and emerging markets.

“Cognitive Credit is purpose-built for credit analysis and leverages institutional-grade technology to provide speed, precision, and auditability across thousands of issuers and to support leading banks and asset managers in use cases where accuracy and verifiability are critical. We’re excited to partner with Robert and the team as they further expand their presence and offering and help credit professionals put AI to work with confidence,” added Bon.

Cognitive Credit’s product suite includes a web application, an Excel add-in that streams proprietary financials directly into existing spreadsheets, a REST API for integration into institutional tech stacks, and a Claude Connector that allows analysts to query issuers and surface financial insights directly from within the Claude environment.

The company says all the outputs are fully auditable and traceable to source, a critical differentiator for institutional clients. This emphasis on verified data could be the reason why the company has managed to power analytical workflows for more than 80% of the top 25 global asset managers by AUM and all top 10 global debt league table investment banks. In a statement, Summit Partners says Cognitive Credit has achieved 240% active user growth and more than doubled its global bond and loan issuer coverage.

“Demand for credit-specialist technology will continue to accelerate from here, and we are pleased to partner with Summit Partners on our next phase of growth. With the imminent launch of DealConnect, ongoing innovation in our AI deployments, and many additional capabilities planned for 2027, we’re offering credit teams the highest quality data and analytics they require for differentiated analysis and high impact decision-making,” said Slater, founder and CEO of Cognitive Credit.

With this strategic investment, Cognitive Credit will accelerate its commercial expansion into the US and advance its next generation of products. These include the imminent launch of DealConnect, designed to enable on-demand access to detailed credit models for private issuers that report via secure data rooms, and the pending deployment of agentic credit analysis. The company also plans to continue expanding its issuer coverage into new credit markets.
