Barcelona-based Titan OS secures €40 million to challenge global smart TV platforms - Prime World Media Funding News

Titan OS, a firm specializing in technology, entertainment, and advertising based in Barcelona, has announced a new €40 million ($46 million) funding round to advance the development of its smart TV operating system.

The investment was supported by current backers Highland Europe and Mangrove Capital Partners, alongside a credit facility provided by accounts and funds overseen by BlackRock. This capital injection follows a €50 million Series A round from December 2025, bringing the company’s total funding to €97 million ($110 million).

Hyoung-Ung Kim, CFO of Titan OS, stated: “Three years after launch, Titan OS is already in millions of homes and continues to deliver strong year-on-year growth as Europe’s leading independent operating system for connected TVs. Investments from BlackRock alongside Highland Europe and Mangrove gives us the capital to build on that foundation, expand into new markets, and do it from a position of financial strength. Our goal is clear: to become a true global player, built from Barcelona, in a market currently dominated by US and Asian companies.”

Throughout 2026, various investments have been recorded in related marketing technology sectors, including Sweden’s Funnel (€67.1 million), UK-based Searchable (€11.9 million) and Dragonfly AI (€5.7 million), Portugal’s DOJO AI (€5.1 million), Sweden’s Fluencify (€3.7 million), the Netherlands’ Aizy (€2 million), and Spain’s Modelia (€1.03 million). Combined, these 2026 investments total approximately €96.5 million, reaching €136.5 million when including the recent Titan OS funding.

Laurence Garrett, General Partner at Highland Europe, commented: “Since our first investment, we’ve watched the Titan team build a rare flywheel. TV makers earn a share of the revenue their screens generate for years after the sale. Advertisers reach millions of homes across many TV brands. And unlike the walled gardens, Titan is a partner, not a competitor. That attracts more TV brands, which brings more viewers and more advertisers. We’re excited to double down.”

Established in 2023 by Jacinto Roca—the founder of Wuaki.tv, which was later acquired by Rakuten—alongside co-founders Timothy Edwards, Miquel Barba, and Tobias Pfalzgraff, Titan OS provides an independent, Linux-based smart TV interface designed to serve as an alternative to platforms like Roku or Android TV.

The company offers TV manufacturers, such as JVC and Philips, customizable software paired with an advertising revenue-sharing model, enabling these brands to generate ongoing income through pre-installed Free Ad-supported Streaming TV (FAST) channels and on-screen advertisements. For consumers, the system provides a localized, intuitive interface that integrates live television, global streaming applications, and free content onto a single home screen.

Titan OS has reportedly increased its revenues by a factor of 15 and has secured licensing agreements with major manufacturers including Sharp, Skyworth, Vestel, JVC, AOC, and Philips.

With this latest influx of capital, Titan OS intends to solidify its standing as a European-based independent TV OS, grow its international OEM partnerships, and continue investing in advertising technology and product development to improve both the user experience and revenue potential for its partners.
