Glovo recently demonstrated its expanding footprint within the European tech landscape during its fourth annual Startup Campus, hosted at its Yellow Park headquarters located in Barcelona. The three-day gathering welcomed 19 emerging companies alongside 33 founders and team members to take part in dedicated mentoring, networking, and pitching opportunities.

This event coincided with the release of fresh data showing that former Glovo team members have established 35 new enterprises possessing a combined estimated valuation of €461 million, underlining the company's effectiveness in cultivating entrepreneurial mindsets and driving national innovation ecosystems.

Delivery Hero’s €7.5 Billion Founder Factory

These findings are drawn from a comprehensive study conducted by Delivery Hero and tech data platform Dealroom.co, which tracked 150 ventures launched by alumni originating from Delivery Hero’s various European brands, reaching a collective estimated market value of €7.5 billion.

Based on the study, Delivery Hero holds the title of Europe's premier "founder factory" when measured by the sheer volume of businesses spawned by ex-employees, placing it ahead of prominent names such as Klarna, Zalando, and Spotify.

Glovo accounts for 35 of these corporate creations, serving as a clear example of how practical experience acquired inside mature technology firms can successfully lay the groundwork for brand-new commercial enterprises.

When we started Glovo in Barcelona in 2015, we had to figure out the startup playbook the hard way, noted Glovo co-founder Sacha Michaud, highlighting the organization's dedication to sharing its hard-earned insights with the upcoming wave of entrepreneurs.

Mentorship and investment opportunities for emerging startups

The Startup Campus initiative is designed to fast-track early-stage ventures by granting them direct entry to industry knowledge, valuable strategic alliances, and potential investors.

Attendees participated in a series of masterclasses, interactive workshops, and guidance sessions directed by technology veterans, including Glovo co-founders Oscar Pierre and Sacha Michaud. The initiative received backing from Endeavor Spain, ACCIÓ (Generalitat de Catalunya), and the Polish Development Fund (PFR).

The gathering concluded with a competitive pitching showdown evaluated by delegates from Endeavor, ACCIÓ, BBVA Spark, and Encomenda Smart Capital, affording founders a platform to showcase their concepts and secure professional evaluations.

Romanian startup .lumen wins pitch competition

Romanian assistive technology venture .lumen captured the top spot during the final pitching contest thanks to its AI-driven navigation specs built to enhance independent travel for visually impaired individuals.

Granter, a startup based in Portugal, secured the runner-up position, while Spain's Bleecker Technologies claimed third place.

We’re incredibly honoured. We are building a technology which potentially can be of immense use for Glovo and its customers, expressed .lumen CEO Cornel Amariei.

Each of the top three victors will continue to benefit from ongoing coaching and strategic oversight courtesy of Sacha Michaud.

Ever since its inception back in 2023, the Glovo Startup Campus has accommodated 53 different startups, coordinated upwards of 20 regional Power Up contests, and, according to corporate figures, engaged more than 1,000 participants through its broader framework.

This latest installment mirrors Glovo’s ongoing drive to extend its footprint far beyond its core delivery operations by equipping fresh founders with the exposure, professional networks, and assets required to scale globally.

From AI to food waste

This year’s edition of the Startup Campus gathered 19 dynamic ventures operating across artificial intelligence, e-commerce, logistics, financial technology, and sustainability sectors.

A number of participating entities concentrated on upgrading retail and courier workflows, featuring Prometei from Kazakhstan, which simplifies marketplace management, and Poland's Berryboo, focused on tuning e-commerce pricing models.

Spain's Bleecker Technologies automates stock tracking, whereas Ukraine-based Pickpad builds intelligent order collection systems. Simultaneously, Slyce.io out of Germany aids restaurant chains in maximizing delivery efficiency, Moldova's Renter supplies e-bike leasing options for riders, and NCSpeech from Kazakhstan links delivery staff with paid AI-training assignments.

Artificial intelligence also played a central role across the entire group. Kenya's AI Champs turns AI education into a game, while Jafar AI from Morocco builds automated virtual receptionists for medical clinics. Nigerian enterprise Curacel streamlines financial administration, and Portugal’s Granter simplifies the process of applying for grants.

Additional attendees included Spanish fintech Wealthreader, which grants access to banking data, Morocco-based Tookeez, focused on consolidating loyalty rewards, alongside Ukrainian ventures Getpin.ai and RankinAI, both assisting enterprises in amplifying their visibility across digital search engines and AI platforms.

Other businesses tackled pressing social and environmental problems, featuring Romanian champions .lumen, alongside Kool & Save from Morocco and Tunisia-based Barakeat, which both fight food waste by redistributing discounted surplus meals, while Ukrainian food enterprise Mozaika injects a contemporary twist into traditional dumplings.
